Hudson Valley brokerage leader expands in Ulster County with key acquisition, gains five offices and 60 agents in the process
LAGRANGEVILLE, NY (May 31, 2018) – Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Hudson Valley Properties, a mid-Hudson Valley market leader, today announced the acquisition of Westwood Metes & Bounds Realty Ltd., a long-tenured real estate brokerage serving Ulster County.
Hudson Valley Properties adds nearly 60 agents and five offices through the transaction. The offices are located in Kingston, New Paltz, Stone Ridge, West Hurley and Woodstock. As important, the brokerage gains wider access to Ulster County, a region rich in history with percolating local economies and a vibrant tourism and second-home market.
“We’re excited to grow West and join forces with a wonderful brokerage such as Westwood Metes & Bounds Realty,” said Steven Domber, president and principal broker of Hudson Valley Properties. “The union is a terrific fit, as our companies have similar cultures and hard-working, skilled agents. We look forward to a bright future serving our extended Hudson Valley marketplace.”
Harris Safier, principal broker and CEO of Westwood Metes & Bounds Realty, will continue as an executive leader at Hudson Valley Properties. “Combining forces and expertise with Steve and the Hudson Valley Properties team primes our organization for exponential growth,” said Safier, who brings 41 years of local real estate experience to the union. “The Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices brand has strong presence in the region and it will be embraced in Ulster County.”
As part of the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices brand, Safier’s agents receive access to the network’s Global Network Platform, a powerful real estate tool suite that supercharges lead generation, marketing support, social media, video production/distribution and more. The brand also provides international listing syndication, relocation referrals, professional education and the exclusive Luxury Collection marketing program for high-end listings.
“Our top priorities through this transaction are to help our agents grow their businesses and continue providing an exceptional service experience for our clients,” said Domber. “Without question, we will deliver on these priorities.”
Gino Blefari, president and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, applauded the transaction. “Congratulations to Steve and Debbie Domber and Harris Safier on their exceptional achievement combining two powerhouse brokerages,” he said. “Hudson Valley Properties is well-positioned for continued growth and success, and we’ll support the brokerage every step of the way.”
As a result of the acquisition, Hudson Valley Properties now counts among its ranks 13 offices and 300 sales professionals. Its sales volume and transaction totals grew about 20% to $810 million and 3,500, respectively. Hudson Valley Properties is a perennial member of Berkshire Elite Circle, a group composed of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices’ Top 50 brokerages.
